Frequently Asked Questions

Who can access Safe Living programs? +

Safe Living supports NDIS participants of all ages and disability types including ASD, psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, and trauma backgrounds. We assess suitability during the intake process to ensure the best fit for each participant.

How do participants pay for programs? +

All programs are accessed through participants' NDIS support funding. There are no extra costs, membership fees, or program access fees. Any third-party costs (e.g. entry fees, transport, specialist equipment) are not included unless separately agreed.

Can participants from outside FNQ access Safe Living? +

Yes! Safe Living welcomes referrals from across Australia. Participants travel to our Mareeba location for Short-Term Accommodation stays and access our unique program suite. This is a wonderful opportunity for participants to experience FNQ's therapeutic environment while making real progress toward their NDIS goals.

How long does intake take? +

We respond to all referrals promptly and aim to complete the intake process as quickly as possible. The timeline depends on availability and the complexity of the participant's needs. We'll keep you updated throughout.

Do participants have to do every program? +

No. Program participation is optional and participant-led. Activities are selected in consultation with the participant and aligned to their individual NDIS goals and approved supports. Participants choose what they feel comfortable with and participate at their own pace.

How do I arrange a tour of the properties? +

Call us on 0456 918 985 or email enquiry@sldss.org to arrange a site visit. We encourage families, participants, and support coordinators to come and see our homes and facilities before committing to a placement.
